Why should you use resveratrol supplements? This is a question that is being asked ever since people learned what this potent and popular health supplement can actually do.
Oprah and Dr. Mehmet Oz on the Oprah show discussed the benefits of resveratrol. But, it’s important to note, that neither Dr. Oz or Oprah promoted any brands of resvreratrol, just that they liked what the supplement can do.
Have you tried searching for the word “resveratrol” on the internet? Maybe even a Bing, Yahoo or Google search result brought you to this article! The chances are pretty good that you are one of millions and millions googling the word “resveratrol” ever since this supplement got really popular.
And, why has it become popular? Probably one of the best answers is – it does what people claim it will do! How crazy is that?
Of course, while resveratrol is a relatively new find as a potent health supplement, humans have been eating it for thousands of years in blueberries, peanuts, chocolate (cocoa) and grapes. It’s been only recently that we’ve learned in more detail how higher concentrations of resveratrol can really benefit our bodies.
So, why should you use resveratrol supplements?
To answer this question, let’s start with the facts. I few years ago, health researchers discovered that people who drank red wine regularly seemed to have healthier bodies (and circulatory systems) as compared to those who didn’t drink red wine. Red wine is made from dark grapes. And, it didn’t take too long to figure out the connection between grapes and the excessive concentrations of resveratrol in those skins. It was quickly learned that resveratrol was in a lot of foods that people generally considered “healthy.”
Specialists isolated the important substances taken from these plant sources, bumped up the concentrations and began a series of clinical trials to try and document the benefits of resveratrol.
While still in infancy, the early results from these clinical trials was nothing short of amazing. Along with very few side effects, resveratrol increased cellular efficiency and function, could boost energy levels, help keep glucose and insulin levels in diabetics more stable, help to lose weight and burn fat – and much more! Resveratrol is a potent antioxidant – basically it prevents deterioration, or oxidation, of the cells that make up our bodies.
Should You Use Resveratrol Products?
While there is no “miracle” pill out there that can make you skinny and cure all of your ills – without you even lifting a finger, resveratrol has come the closest to a “miracle drug” as anything discovered in the last few years.
You could get the benefits by drinking red wine, or by eating a LOT of grapes, but neither of these ideas is practical. If you drank enough wine to get the level of resveratrol that you’d get from a concentrated supplement, your liver would most likely shut down from alcohol poisoning. The same goes for grapes or other foods – you’d have to eat so much of the food that your body would rebel. It’s obvious why supplements are a very popular choice.
Mostly, people who take resveratrol supplements do so for a reason. And, the most popular use of this supplement is help with weight loss – by far. Anti-aging and other benefits are still popular, but fall way behind weight loss. Only you can decide if a resveratrol supplement can help with your weight loss. On the positive side, the facts are on your side, as the benefits of resveratrol have been carefully spelled out after the results of clinical trials.
